Profile of the Honorary Secretary
I first became interested in dogs when I met my wife Jan. She had been involved with dogs all of her life as an assistant to a racing greyhound trainer and then as an animal nurse for a pet practice.
We had our first dog, a Labrador Retriever in 1973 and she became the first of many. We bred and showed Labradors for 25 years and I also became involved with judging and administration as a committee member of the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Labrador Retriever Club. I am still the Treasurer of the Mid Herts Gundog Club.
About 11 years ago we decided to change to a smaller dog and chose our lovely breed the Border Terrier. We had owned working “Fell” Terriers whilst running our boarding kennels in Norfolk.
We could not find a Fell terrier so the Border was the nearest breed we could find.
We only intended having one as a pet but things developed and we now own 7 of them!
I have been a committee member of the East Anglia Border Terrier Club since 2000 and was elected Secretary in 2004. I am ably assisted by Jan who is the Assistant Secretary.
