Profile of the Vice Chairman

3 December 2008 No Comment

I was born in Scotland, and moved to Newmarket in 1978, where I have worked with Racehorses till the present day, moving up the ranks to being head person, for William Haggas, for whom I have worked for over 20 years, this current season, being the most successful to date with 87 winners, and over 1 million pounds in prize money for 2008.

On the dog side, I have had Border Terriers even longer than I have worked for Mr Haggas! My first Border, was not a show dog, but still a wonderful dog, my next, Kelgram Kayhasi won 1 CC, and 4 Res CCs for me, and over 50 BOBS, so a very successful dog. I currently have two, Pipruda Shaamit (Rudi), and Pipruda Tattycoram (Tatty), are 10 years  and 3 Months respectively, are wonderful characters, whom I still and will show, when work permits.

Suddenly in November, in less than 4 days, I had to make the awful decision, to put, Katie (Kelgam Kayotic at Shaamit) to sleep as she had a minimum of nine fits over a period of 36 hours, she had a MRI Scan, a brain tumour was detected, a large one, and I would not see her suffer, she was only 8 as well.

So a few weeks later, Tatty made her grand entrance to the O’Shea household, so we are looking forward to 2009 on the dog front as well as the Haggas Team, our first winner for 2009 was on 10th January.

I was a founder member of the EABTC, and obviously am still on the committee, actively doing the catering at our November Show, and organising our rallies, and doing my share at the Champ Show as well. Rudi has been a wonderful stud dog as well, and I regularly see his offspring too.

I am married, and my husband is chief dog walker, as I think I do enough exercise at work!
